Coup the Duke is a production company based in South Wales, focused on trying to inject the magic of the golden age of cinema into our ambitious independent film projects.
Coup the Duke’s most recent notable achievement has been winning a commission from Film4 and the BFI to create the short film ‘FLOCK’ with director Mac Nixon, as part of their Future Takes scheme. FLOCK’s World Premiere (will be/was) at the 69th BFI London Film Festival in October 2025 and we are now underway with its festival run both around the UK and internationally.
We are also collaborating with Ffilm Cymru and Bad Wolf Studios on a new short film, expected for release in early 2026, and have our sights set on developing and acquiring funding for our first feature film project in the same year.
CTD was founded in 2017 when Scott Piggott and Matt Ashwell first started collaborating on ‘micro-budget’ short films. From then, both of them started to fall in love not only with the development and production of films, but having the right mindset to lead a production. The goal back then was to tell exciting but accessible narratives, and use innovative ways to make productions a happier place whilst making them environmentally sustainable and inclusive. It’s fine making a great film, but we think that the process should be enjoyable for everyone involved as well.
