Injecting the golden age
of cinema back into indie cinema.

Ambitious. Unique. Sustainable.

Based in South Wales, focused on film, Coup the Duke was founded in 2017 by Scott Piggott and Matt Ashwell who began on micro-budget short films and grew into a BIFA-nominated production company, financed by Film4 and BFI, that cares as much about the process as the result. We make productions inclusive, sustainable, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone involved.

We have taken films to festivals internationally by putting the 'golden age of cinema' back onto screens. That means putting practical effects, experimental techniques and visual identity at the forefront of every film we make. In our view, every wide shot should be crafted, not generated.

Our grassroots origins have made us a unique production company that can bring the highest level of production value to a film through our ambitious and passion-led approach. Our goal is to put every penny possible on screen, whilst creating a sustainable approach in our impact to our crews and our environment.

Get in touch.

We'd love to hear from you — whether it's to send us a feature or series project, or just to have a conversation about film.
